News

It was with sadness that on November 1st 2018 we heard of the death of John Paton Philip, former principal of Chadacre. He was aged 92 years.

A private family funeral was followed by a service of Thanksgiving in Gatehouse of Fleet where John and his wife Margaret had retired to. However, it was felt a service of Thanksgiving should be held in Suffolk to remember the great contribution John made to Chadacre, agriculture and many other organisations in East Anglia.

Details of the service are as follows:

A service of Thanksgiving for the life of John Paton Philip MBE

will be held on  Friday 1st March at 11am

All Saints Church, Lawshall, Bury St Edmunds IP29 4PA.

Tea and coffee will be served in the church afterwards.

Donations if desired, will go towards a lasting memorial to John at

Trinity Park, Ipswich, the home of the Suffolk Show.

There will also be a ‘Book of Memories’ at the church. Comments can be added on the day or ahead of the service can be sent to by email to admin@cosa.org or by post to COSA c/o Hollow Trees Farm, Semer, Ipswich IP7 6HX

Don't miss a great opportunity to purchase a small piece of Chadacre History;-

When recently looking through some Chadacre archives with the current Lord Iveagh, a reel of film was found with no clue as to what it contained!

Former Chadacre student and COSA committee member Roger Lintott went about the task of finding a way of getting the film onto DVD.

The result is a fantastic short 12 minute film with commentary that gives a snapshot of the life of a Chadacre student at the Institute in the 1960's, and the Chadacre song.  It really is recommended viewing!

Copies of the DVD are available for you to purchase.

Price £10.00, plus £2.50 post and packing.   All profits to COSA funds.
